Privacy notice

What this website collects, why, and how to have it removed.

This notice explains what the listonics.com website collects, why, where it is stored and how to have it removed. It covers the website only. Information you give us during a project is governed by the agreement we sign with you.

Who is responsible

Listonics is the business responsible for the information described here. Listonics provides its services under the licence of Listi Partners Portal. You can reach us at info@listonics.com, on WhatsApp. Listonics is a remote-first provider based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with no walk-in office.

What the enquiry form collects

When you send an enquiry or sign up to the newsletter, we receive the information you type: your name, email address, phone number if you give one, and your message. The newsletter form asks only for an email address.

Alongside that, the form records which page you sent it from, the website you arrived from if any, the country your connection is in, and a keyed hash of your IP address that changes every day. We store the hash rather than the address itself: it lets us stop repeated submissions from the same connection, and it is cleared from the enquiry after a day.

What else the site records

When you tap the WhatsApp button, a phone number or an email address, the site records that a tap happened, on which page, the website you arrived from, your country and the same daily hash of your IP, which is cleared after a day. It does not record who you are. This tells us which pages lead to contact.

The site counts the pages that are read. When a page opens, it adds one to a daily total for that page, the website you arrived from, and whether the screen is phone sized. The total is a number: there is no record of which pages you personally read, and no history that could be assembled into one. To count you once rather than ten times in a day, the daily hash of your IP is stored against today's date and deleted after sixty days. Because the hash changes every day, it cannot link your visits on different days. If your browser asks not to be tracked, nothing is counted at all.

For a live view in our own admin panel only, the site also keeps the approximate country and city your connection reports, so we can see roughly where current readers are. It carries no IP and no identifier, it is never shown publicly, and it is deleted automatically after about half an hour.

The counting above is done on our own server rather than by an analytics company, and it sets no cookies. Separately, this site now uses Google Tag Manager, which can load analytics and advertising tags that do set cookies. Those tags stay switched off until you accept them on the banner shown on your first visit, so if you decline, or simply ignore the banner, no analytics or advertising cookies are set. See the section below for detail.

Google Tag Manager and your choice

This site loads Google Tag Manager, a tool that lets us manage analytics and marketing tags in one place, and through it we use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. Google Analytics and any advertising measurement are run by Google and may set cookies and receive your IP address.

We use Google Consent Mode, which means every analytics and advertising category starts in a denied state when a page loads. Nothing in those categories runs until you choose Accept on the banner shown on your first visit. If you choose Decline, or close the banner without choosing, the tags stay denied and no analytics or advertising cookies are set. Your choice is remembered in your browser so you are not asked again on every page.

You can change your mind at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the banner back, or by emailing info@listonics.com. Google describes how it handles data in its own privacy terms, and the tags we run through Tag Manager are subject to them.

Separately, when you send an enquiry through a form, our server records in Google Analytics that an enquiry happened, along with the page it came from and how you reached the site. This note carries no personal data: not your name, email, phone or message, and it sets no cookie. It lets us see which pages produce enquiries. It is sent from our server, so it does not depend on the banner choice, but because it identifies no one it is not tracking you.

Why we hold it

To reply to your enquiry, to quote for work, and to keep a record of what was asked and answered. For the newsletter, to send the emails you asked for. For taps and page counts, to understand which pages are useful and which are not worth keeping. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Who else can see it

Enquiries are stored in a Cloudflare database and emailed to us through Resend, an email delivery service. Our website is hosted by Cloudflare, so Cloudflare handles the connection for every visit. An encrypted backup of that database is stored with GitHub; GitHub cannot read it, because only we hold the key.

Our photographs are stored on our own site. The Arabic pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address on those pages because your browser requests the font files directly from it.

Our pages include a Trustpilot script. It identifies our business to Trustpilot and nothing more. It sets no cookies and sends Trustpilot no information about you. If we later invite a customer to leave a review, we will send Trustpilot that customer's email address for that purpose, and we will tell them first.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and newsletter records until you ask us to delete them. We have not set an automatic deletion date, so if you would like your details removed, email info@listonics.com and we will delete them.

So that enquiries are not lost if our database fails, an encrypted copy of it is made every night and stored with GitHub, the service that holds our website code. Only we hold the key that opens it. Nightly copies are kept for 35 days and one copy a month for 90 days, so a record you ask us to delete disappears from the live database straight away and from these backups once they age out.

The page counts are different, because they are totals rather than records of anyone: we keep those. The daily IP hashes on enquiries and taps are cleared after a day. Those used to count a visitor once instead of ten times are deleted automatically after sixty days, and the totals they produced stay behind as plain numbers.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@listonics.com and we will act on it. The UAE government publishes an overview of the rights that apply here in its guide to data protection laws.

Changes to this notice

If what the website collects changes, this page changes with it. The date at the top is the last time it did.
